Bulimia
Bulimia is when someone eats a great amount of food in one sitting (binging) and then immediately vomitting (purging). Sometimes laxatives are also used to eliminate the food. After binging, some people who have bulimia will not eat for long periods of time or they exercise in excess to prevent an increase in weight. This is different from people who have anorexia, who will not eat food at all.
People with bulimia usually use diuretics, laxatives, or diet pills for "controlling" their weight. Frequently they try to hide their binging and purging, which means that they do it alone. People who have bulimia usually experience only slight fluctuations in weight; typically maintaining weight in the "normal" range.
The symptoms to look out for in a person with bulimia include: always going immediately to the restroom after eating, eating great amounts of food but it does not gain weight, uses laxatives or diuretics, and avoids social activities.
