Exercise
Stories about teenagers and their feelings regarding ejercise, and the consequence of a bad physical condition.
Case #1Soccer Team
She plays on the high school soccer team. It is a very competitive sport, so she wants to be in the best possible shape. The team works out together every day, but she doesnt think that is enough and goes to the gym twice a day. If she could, she would spend half her day there. She wakes up at 4 am each day and goes to the gym before school for two hours. Then after school she works out with the team for an hour. Then they practice. She is usually pretty tired when she gets home and sometimes falls asleep before doing her homework. She feels homework doesnt really matter. She plans on getting a scholarship for soccer. Her coach talked to her and told her that she should stop working out so much. He thought it was going to wear her down and would affect her ability to play. But she believes he is wrong. How can working out twice a day hurt you? Isnt exercise good for you?
Case #2Too Much Television
Carlos is a 14 year old boy who loves to play on the computer and watch television. He does not participate in any sports and the only exercise he does get is from gym class at school. Recently his school organized a field trip to go mountain climbing. Carlos could only make it half way through the hike before his legs started to cramp, he started feeling dizzy, and had trouble breathing. He felt embarassed because this only happened to him. He does not want to go on another field trip like this again.
