About UsWelcome to TeenSmart International, Inc. (TSI), established in 2004, is a USA tax exempt (501©3) non profit organization which serves to strengthen existing youth and family development organizations in the USA and Latin America. TSI provides web-based bilingual (Spanish/English) interactive cutting edge health promotion educational tools for adolescents aged 10 to 21. These tools focus on prevention and/or reduction of six risky health behaviors: smoking, alcohol and other drug use, risky sexual behaviors (RSB), injuries related to accidents, violence, and suicide, lack of physical exercise, and poor nutritional habits. TSIs materials and methods are made available to existing youth and family development organizations throughout the English/Spanish speaking world. Mission, vision and objectivesTeenSmarts mission is to help adolescents at risk develop knowledge, skill and motivation to live healthy and effective, satisfying lives. Its underlying philosophy is one of self-care and self-empowerment. Our vision is that by 2010, TeenSmart International will be recognized throughout the Americas and beyond as one of the regions leading low cost, high quality educational resources for the promotion of adolescent health. As such it will complement, strengthen and enrich existing youth and family development organizations. ObjectivesTeenSmarts organizational objectives are:
Governance and StaffThe Board of Directors is comprised of 10 members, representing diverse professional backgrounds, geographical locations, and nationalities. The President of the Board is Cathy Strachan Lindenberg, who has been the Principal Investigator of the research from which TeenSmart tools have been developed (see History, Publications, and Grants).
